It’s important to have confidence that you are getting good quality teaching in a safe environment, and this is especially the case if your child is involved.
The quality of our teaching should be apparent from our reputation – see our Testimonials page – and we hope it will become evident in an initial session. We have many years experience of teaching, and also we keep on learning to keep our skills in tune.
Professional Membership – we are both full members of the Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM). This is the UK’s professional body for musicians, providing professional development, insurance, legal support, campaigning and representation.

DBS and Child Protection – we both have clear records with the UK’s Disclosure and Barring Service, at enhanced level, demonstrating that we have no criminal past. As part of our work in schools, we have to keep up to date with current guidance on child protection, such as Keeping Children Safe In Education.
Online Security. We only exchange emails and other electronic messages with adults. We enter correspondence with parents or carers, not with young students themselves. Parents need to be present at the start and end of online lessons, and preferably throughout.
GDPR. We hold records of your contact details securely on password protected computer systems. We do not share your identity or details with anyone without your permission.
Hearing Protection. Some musical instruments, particularly drum kit, can be played very loudly.
If you plan to play at high volumes, even for short periods of time, we strongly recommend that you use hearing protection.
For young drum kit students, over-the-ear muffs can be a good choice, as they are easier to deploy than ear plugs, and it’s very obvious that they are being worn. Specialist music shops and audiologists will be able to advise you further on hearing protection products that will suit you.
