I am an experienced teacher with a positive attitude and a strong desire for you to develop really helpful musical ability. I believe that music should be fun, and also that there’s more fun to be had when you are confident in your skills. So it’s well worth improving your ability. And that takes some work and persistence. I’m here to help you develop the skills you need, so you can make the music you want to.

I began music lessons at school and have played in a wide range of musical groups and settings. Most often I play in concert bands and orchestras, performing on drum kit, but also timpani and a percussion instruments ranging from castanets to xylophone, cymbals to tambourine. I play freelance in orchestras, bands, theatre pits, and have experience of a huge range of musical styles. I’m on the staff at Chiltern Music Academy, where I teach individuals and direct a percussion ensemble, for which I also arrange music. I’m full Member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians.

Most of my teaching is drum kit, but some students mix in general percussion lessons. I have taught students ranging from absolute beginners up to Grade 8 exam candidates, both children and adults.
